For the trade

What is in the production pack

Four things for one memorial, generated together and carrying one hash between them. If the hashes differ, the files have come from different versions of the memorial... it is there so a revision never has to be spotted by eye.

The vector you cut from

One user unit is one millimetre and the artwork bounds are the stone. Open it in anything, measure it with anything, print it at 100%: the letters are the size they will be cut.

There is not one text element in it. A text element assumes the machine opening the file has the same face installed, and when it does not, the letters reflow without saying so. Every glyph is a filled outline taken from what the family approved on screen, which also means our fonts are not something you need to hold or keep track of.

stone-profile
The saw line. Stroked, not filled.
inscription
The stencil. Filled paths, each carrying the slot it came from as its id, so a line can be isolated without hunting for it.
reference-do-not-cut
Safe area, centre line and slot frames, dashed in magenta. There in case it is useful to see what the layout was working within. If it is not, delete the group or ask for the file without it.

What has been checked before it reaches you

The layout engine will not place a letter below the largest of three floors. It steps the type down, then wraps it, and when there is nowhere left to go it offers the family a different layout rather than setting something too small. These are our floors and they are set to be conservative... if your own practice differs on a stone or a method, we would genuinely like to know.

By method
Laser etch 10mm · sandblast V-cut 14mm · V-cut and gilded 16mm
By cut
EB Garamond 12mm · Inter 10mm
By granite
Between 10mm and 14mm, depending on the stone.

Where the family has named a cemetery, the design has been checked against that council’s rules, and the specification page names the clauses applied. The permit remains theirs to lodge, and the inscription transcript is laid out for the application.

And what is not in it

Foundations and installation
Yours. Councils specify their own requirements and the cemetery pages carry what we hold for each.
A guarantee on the build
Ours covers the design and the pack. The memorial is warranted by whoever makes it, on their own terms.

If a file looks wrong

Please tell us rather than working around it. The vector comes from the same placement the family approved on screen, so a disagreement between the two is a defect at our end rather than a variation for you to absorb, and it is much easier for everyone to fix before anything is cut. We would rather hear about something small and be wrong about it than not hear.
